Hello! First off I just want to say hello to everyone and this is my very first time posting on this message board. I just had to meet other people who shared my love for American Girl.
I'm very nervous to be on here for the first time I must say, but I'm very glad to be on here. I must say, many you have very impressive collections from what I've seen already!
Anyways, I was wondering, I called customer service to deal with another situation not too long ago, and we got talking about the doll hospital. I need to send my first two dolls, as they have very loose legs, but I'm not sure about my Kit doll. I told the woman that her hips stick out quite a bit more than my other dolls, right where they attach to the body. The woman I spoke to said that some of the dolls may be built that way, but I can send her to find out. I would like to avoid that, so I was wondering if anyone out there knew the answer to this so I don't send her all the way there for nothing. I can't believe I didn't notice it all this time! Thanks!
Nikki

I also am not quite sure what could be the cause of Kit's protruding hips, sorry to say...
welcome to the board though, I really hope you enjoy it here!

The pre-mattel dolls seem to have wider hips, or at least that is the case with mine.

Yes, some of the dolls whether pre-Mattel or not can be "hippy". I have a Josefina that has hips that protrude very far out. She looks like she has been riding a horse for too long. You can't tell with her skirts on so I never worried about it. My Kit is thin so I think it just depends on who happened to put the doll together.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! You have all been so nice.
That's what I am thinking about her too. I very sure I got her the same year she came out, right around the time she was first introduced. So that may be why her hips stick out so much. It's funny I didn't notice that about her until I took her to a trip to Chicago and I was changing her clothes, I couldn't believe how much they protruded as compared to my other dolls. But, it isn't really noticeable under clothes, I just find it weird.
I'm sure this has been mentioned a ton of times, but I can say, I have not been very happy with the quality of the dolls lately. I got Kit years ago, but I had to send the original one I got back because one leg was longer than the other. I hadn't collected in a while(one of the many drawbacks to being a student-low funds), but when I first got Marisol, she had a very loose eye. I had to exchange her too. And then just a week ago I finally got Lily(#24), and one of her arms was up higher up than the other and quite loose. And one of her legs was just slightly longer, but she looked tilted. So I just got the new one yesterday, she is much better, but she seems ever so slightly to lean a bit, but nothing too noticeable. I'm just so nervous for when I order my next doll pretty soon. I get so excited for them to arrive, I just hate to wait for a new doll in exchange for the old one.
Thanks so much again!
